This desk sprung from the notion of a traditional partners desk, i.e. a desk that is wide enough to have two people working at it while facing each other. There are identical sets of drawers on both sides. The challenge was to design a sleek and contemporary version of an old concept. The pleasing linear appearance was accomplished by having four individual drawer boxes housing eight drawers appear to be floating below a desktop that also appears to be floating. The triangular leg structure penetrates the middle of the drawer boxes as it comes to a point underneath the top. A concealed steel frame embedded in the legs rises up and branches out to support the drawer boxes and the top. The illusion of a floating top is enhanced by the dark walnut leg structure which fades into the background.

The design for this chair began with the visual of an elephant's tusk. A very cradling shape.
